The latest regenerative treatment for hair loss & skin rejuvenation
Bringing PRP Therapy to Greensboro, NC
Our bodies are truly amazing—more amazing, even, than we might appreciate. Within your blood are vital ingredients for rejuvenation on a scale that we’ve only recently learned to harness. The platelets in your blood are full of growth factors specifically designed to repair and regenerate the body’s tissues. Now, dermatologists can focus that power on promoting hair growth, minimizing the appearance of scars, and even providing facial rejuvenation.
If you’ve struggled with confidence as a result of hair loss or visible signs of aging, PRP therapy offers a promising natural remedy. This minimally invasive treatment is tailor-made for you because it’s made from your body’s unique healing powers, making it a safe, effective, and minimally invasive way to take back your self-esteem.

Platelet-Rich Plasma FAQs
Because PRP therapy is a relatively new treatment, many of our patients have questions about what it is, how it works, and what to expect. Browse our dermatologist’s answers below, and feel free to contact us with any further questions you may have.
Many physicians are using PRP to help encourage and accelerate healing in the case of chronic musculoskeletal conditions or injured soft tissues, such as tendons, joints, and muscles. One of PRP therapy’s many advantages is that it can also address several cosmetic concerns, including but not limited to:
- Hair loss and alopecia
- Acne & acne scars
- Fine lines & wrinkles
- Loose, sagging, or crepey skin
- Under-eye bags
- Other visible signs of aging
Most patients see improvement in the tone, texture, and “glow” of their complexion within a few days, which can last several months. Depending on your skin’s condition and your goals, we may recommend a series of treatments spaced apart to ensure maximum results.
The entire procedure takes about 30–45 minutes, depending on the nature of the treatment. Once we draw blood from your arm, we will process it in our sterile, secure system to ensure maximum safety. Then, we’ll apply a topical numbing cream to minimize any discomfort before injecting the serum into the desired area.
For the first 24–48 hours after your procedure, you may experience some redness, swelling, and tenderness in the treatment area. Some patients recover in as little as 24 hours, while others may experience symptoms for up to four days. Most people find that the downtime is very minimal and tolerable, especially if they follow their dermatologist’s aftercare instructions.
If you are interested in a non-chemical, minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment or hair loss solution, PRP therapy could be a great option for you. That said, we do not recommend PRP for anyone who:
- Has a medical condition that results in a low platelet count or dysfunctional platelets
- Is in poor or currently unstable health
- Has an active infection in or near the treatment area
- Is pregnant or breastfeeding
- Has a hemoglobin blood count of less than 10 g/dL
- Has a platelet count of less than 105/µL
Before recommending a treatment, your dermatologist will ensure the treatment will be safe for you during a comprehensive initial consultation.
Before we begin, we’ll need to ensure that you have had a recent CBC (complete blood count) and platelet count. Once you’re cleared for the treatment, make sure to avoid eating fatty foods for 24 hours before your appointment. On the day of, drink at least 100 mL (about half a cup) of water before you arrive at the office.
We generally recommend that patients undergo monthly treatments for the first 3 months, with a maintenance schedule of about 3–6 months following. Depending on what concerns we are treating, the size of the treatment area, and your ultimate goals, you may need more or fewer treatments. We’ll always discuss these expectations with you openly and honestly during your consultation!
Studies show that PRP is a promising hair loss treatment, especially for those who suffer from androgenic alopecia (female- or male-pattern baldness). This treatment has been proven effective in both promoting new hair to grow and preventing further hair loss. We may recommend it in conjunction with other treatments, as it can boost the effectiveness of treatments like Rogaine and even optimize the healing process after hair transplants.
